The hospital treats children from all over the world – some need more sophisticated care than is available in their homeland, others are victims of war, natural disasters, or terrorism. But in addition, a little known aspect of the hospital’s activities is sending teams to places in medical crisis all over the world. Monica Heenan, RN, MPA, is the Senior Vice-President and Chief Strategy Officer of Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is currently responsible for strategic planning and new program development for this top-ranked children’s hospital. Monica led the team to establish the International Patient Services Program at Lurie Children’s and most recently facilitated the organization’s adoption of Vision 2025 – a healthier future for all children.
