Annual Book Fair for All Students
at George B. Swift Specialty School
5900 North Winthrop Avenue
Tuesday, December 1, 2026
Register for one shift:
8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
12:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.
George B. Swift, a Chicago Public School serving many immigrant and refugee children, has a long and meaningful relationship with IWA through our Philanthropy and Community Service programs. Once a year, usually near the winter holidays, all students, grades pre-K through 8, choose two interesting books to take home and call their own.
Volunteers are needed for setting up/taking down book displays, welcoming classes, and aiding individual students in choosing their books.
This is a wonderful opportunity for members to experience what Swift School is all about — and a joyful day of children and books!
If you cannot stay for the entire shift, stay as long as you can.
We also need 2-3 volunteers to assist with set up at the school, Monday November 30.
Registration Deadline is Sunday, November 29
One guest maximum per IWA member registration.
Contact: Dell Harmsen or Mary Jane Kupsky for more information.
