Book Description: Audition is a 2025 novel by Katie Kitamura about an actress in New York City who meets a young man, Xavier, who claims to be her son, which she denies. In the second part, he is her son.   Kitamura delves into the roles people perform (partner, parent, creator), the masks they wear, and  ambiguity in intimate relationships. It was shortlisted for the 2025 Booker Prize.
