English-Speaking World: Manias, Bubbles, Panics & Crashes
Speaker: John Yackley
In 1593, Botanist Carolus Clusius, introduced the Dutch to tulips. By early 1637, some tulips bulbs were selling for 10,000 guilders, equal to the value of a mansion on the Amsterdam Grand Canal. However, by the end of that year, they were effectively worthless. John Yackley will help us explore some of the more notable bubbles in history and the dramatic collapses in prices that followed. He is the founder and the Chief Investment Officer of a boutique investment firm, Golden Horn Capital.
