The Silk Roads Part III: Weaving Fantasies

Presenter: The Nourishment Projects (Soma Roy)

Etymologically, "text" and "textiles" share a common root, meaning "to weave".  Our Silk Roads series continues weaving the chronicle by transitioning from luxury textiles to resplendent manuscripts that illuminate the bewitching written world. From the lambent Diamond Sutra, the bejewelled bindings of Sangorski and Sutcliffe to the surprising origins of the childhood favorite Aladdin, discover how books and stories traversed centuries and geographies captivating cultures with the allure of the unknown.

Join us as we journey from the courts of Louis XIV and Shah Tahmasp to China's Dunhuang caves and ponder:

Did Scheherazade really have a thousand stories to tell?
