Drawing from ancient Middle Eastern literature, which is filled with stories about men and women in disguise, Majidi creates a modern and simple story. “Baran” meaning rain in Persian, is an artistic film; more than a love story, it portrays natural yet complex human emotions with a political undertone exposes the situation of Afghan refugees in Iran during the '90s.
