Program: “A Taste of Music and Dance in Indonesia”

There are hundreds of ethnic groups with more than 300 native languages being spoken in Indonesia, which is an archipelago country in Asia. Each ethnic group in Indonesia is represented with its unique music, dance and performing arts. We will learn Indonesia’s history and its cultural heritage, as well as some of the performing arts of Java and Bali islands. You will also have the opportunity to try some simple musical instruments and appreciate traditional Indonesian folk songs.

Presenter:  Dr.  Juiching Wang,  Associate Professor at Northern Illinois University (NIU),  Coordinator of various NIU world music ensembles, and 2016-17 Fulbright Scholar.
