Program: "Zeugma Mosaics", Prof. Görkay will share the conservation efforts of the Turkish Ministry of Culture, and Turkish and German archaeologists for the world's most beautiful and richest Roman mosaic art collection in southeastern Turkey. Forces of Alexander the Great settled along the Euphrates River around 300 B.C. and called the area Zeugma (meaning "bridge / crossing place") that connected ancient civilizations in Anatolia with Mesopotamia. Reception to follow at the Edgar and Deborah Jannotta Mesopotamian Gallery.
