English-Speaking World: Historic and present Scotland as seen through the poetry of Robert Burns

(Rescheduled from January 12, 2022) On the anniversary of his birthday we can look at the world through his life and poetry.  But we also look at this from today’s perspective. This gives an interesting view of contemporary Scotland and who the Scots are.

Speaker: Gus Noble, President and CEO of Chicago Scots, the oldest 501(c)3 non-profit in Illinois, whose principal charity is Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care. Chicago Scots is the oldest registered charity in Illinois, celebrating its 175th anniversary this year. Mr. Noble has been named an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This honor was awarded in recognition of Gus’s 17-years of service to Scottish culture in the United States of America as well as his incredible leadership of Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care during the COVID-19 crisis.
